PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Micheal Cyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and shane robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cyde shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Cyde thowing shots but they're missing.
robinson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cyde tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Cyde really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

robinson wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Cyde slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Cyde throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
robinson is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Cyde.
Cyde has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cyde misses with punches from the back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cyde controlling the position well here. robinson rolled but Cyde kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Cyde is hanging on to robinson's back as he tries to escape.
robinson has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Cyde.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Cyde controlling the positon.
robinson is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Cyde off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

robinson is having to fend off submission attempts from Cyde, who is looking to sink in the choke. Cyde doesn't have the hooks in though and robinson manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

robinson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cyde has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, robinson has managed to get both his arms back between Cyde's legs - danger averted.

Cyde has robinson pulled in close to control his posture.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cyde manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

robinson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cyde counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee asks Cyde politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cyde prefers to stall for the moment though.
Cyde misses with the ground and pound.

Cyde tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Cyde stands up and beckons robinson to his feet.

Cyde decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cyde is looking for a kimura but robinson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cyde to get the leverage.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Micheal Cyde just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
robinson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cyde decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in robinson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cyde decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on robinson, up you get!

Cyde bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cyde fails to land a wild elbow strike.
robinson is breathing heavily.

Cyde tries to advance to mount but can't.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cyde content just to control the position here.
robinson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

robinson fails with the takedown

and Cyde counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cyde working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cyde trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cyde is looking to work some ground and pound but robinson has wrist control.
Cyde stays in close to robinson's body and controls the position.

Cyde decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on robinson, up you get!

robinson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cyde gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
robinson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cyde tries to pull guard but robinson won't allow it.
Cyde is pressed up against the cage. robinson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cyde down to the mat. Cyde avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Micheal Cyde has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of shane robinson.

Cyde drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cyde sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed robinson's guard.

Cyde is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! robinson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
