PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Khun Kasem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidetada Yamagishi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khun Kasem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hidetada Yamagishi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasem tries to clinch there but Yamagishi circles away.
Kasem shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yamagishi pinned against the cage. Yamagishi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A head kick misses from Yamagishi.
Yamagishi keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kasem looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kasem looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Yamagishi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Yamagishi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Yamagishi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kasem slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kasem has a closed guard, preventing Yamagishi from standing up.
Yamagishi tries to free his leg and advance position but Kasem is retaining full guard.
Kasem keeping moving, preventing Yamagishi from controlling successfully.
Yamagishi is looking to advance position but Kasem has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yamagishi can't escape the position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Yamagishi tries to clinch

and Kasem counters by clinching up.
Yamagishi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Yamagishi is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Yamagishi has Kasem pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kasem manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kasem tries to score a body lock takedown but Yamagishi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kasem goes for a takedown in the clinch but Yamagishi prevents it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Yamagishi.

Kasem jumps guard and drags Yamagishi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Kasem not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kasem utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kasem pulls Yamagishi in to control the position.
Kasem can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Yamagishi controls the pace.

Yamagishi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Yamagishi is looking to stand up but Kasem won't let him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yamagishi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Yamagishi wants to control from the top but Kasem keeps moving.
Kasem wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yamagishi shoots and misses

and Kasem counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Yamagishi!
Yamagishi is just holding on here. Kasem manages to take his back.
Yamagishi looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Despite being in the dominant position, Hidetada Yamagishi just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kasem wants to clinch.

Kasem darts in and clinches Yamagishi up against the cage.
Yamagishi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yamagishi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kasem displaying some good clinch control by pressing Yamagishi up against the cage.
Yamagishi misses with a body punch.

Yamagishi manages to break the clinch.
Kasem fails with a takedown attempt.
Khun Kasem is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kasem shoots for a double leg takedown but Yamagishi sprawls well. He's pushed Kasem's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Yamagishi counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kasem!
Kasem is squirming around, avoiding Yamagishi's attempts to control the action.

Kasem is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Yamagishi is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kasem can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kasem is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yamagishi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kasem is looking to escape.
Kasem is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Yamagishi looking to control but Kasem is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yamagishi controlling from mount.
Yamagishi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Hidetada Yamagishi.
I think Yamagishi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
