Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Mann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Stubbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stubbs is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I Am The Walrus by The Beatles. Robert Stubbs has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Mann's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Stubbs!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mann looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mann on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Stubbs. Stubbs obviously looking to wear him down.
Mann on the wrong end of a nice hook.


It looks like John Mann has been cut.
Mann keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Mann uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Stubbs.
Mann throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stubbs.
Stubbs throws a jab when Mann was well out of range.
Mann showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stubbs.
Stubbs tries to bum rush Mann with a series of wild strikes but Mann uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stubbs misses with a two punch combination.

Mann shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mann was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stubbs is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Stubbs is trying desperately to improve position.
Mann controlling the pace for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mann looking to control but Stubbs is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The referee stands the fighters back up. John Mann just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Mann shoots in for a takedown but Stubbs shows good takedown defense.
Stubbs lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Stubbs throws a low kick but Mann avoids it.
Stubbs misses with a wild body shot.
Mann fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stubbs avoids it really well and circles away.

Stubbs displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mann.
Mann works over Stubbs's head and body with a nice combination.
Stubbs bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mann shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stubbs defends it nicely.

so Mann counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mann is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mann stands up and waves to Stubbs to follow him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stubbs throws out a loose jab but Mann uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Mann will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mann fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Stubbs is out of range.

Mann darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mann not doing much here.
Stubbs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mann. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stubbs wants to get back to full guard.
Stubbs tries to kick Mann off but Mann keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Stubbs is breathing heavily.
Mann trying to control the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mann missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mann content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Stubbs wants to control but Mann is keeping busy.
Stubbs is looking for a sweep. Mann is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mann is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Mann seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stubbs for as long as he can get away with.

Mann throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mann perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Stubbs gets caught flat footed, as Mann shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Stubbs is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mann dives into side control.
Mann works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The referee asks Mann politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mann prefers to stall for the moment though.
Mann in side control, throwing shots but Stubbs defends.
A lull in the action here as Mann stalls from top position.

Mann decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Stubbs takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Stubbs misses with a few strikes there.
Mann uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stubbs.
John Mann is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mann.
Mann working the head and body with strikes.
An elbow from Mann crashes against the mat.
Mann staying calm.

Mann stands up and we're back to a striking position.

A nice combination there by Mann.

Mann decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mann sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stubbs's guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mann in particular looking to stall.

John Mann is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
John Mann overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

John Mann showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mann has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
