Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ikuhisa Minowaman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fumio Fukusaku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fumio Fukusaku!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Minowaman closes the distance and clinches.

Minowaman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Minowaman closes the distance and pushes Fukusaku back into the cage.

Minowaman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Fukusaku uses from the top position.

Fukusaku is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Minowaman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Minowaman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fukusaku for as long as he can get away with.

Minowaman gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Minowaman has hold of one of Fukusaku's legs. Fukusaku is fighting the takedown attempt but Minowaman gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Minowaman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Minowaman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fukusaku gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fukusaku tries to free his leg and advance position but Minowaman is retaining full guard.
Fukusaku is breathing heavily.

Fukusaku drops back looking for a leg! Minowaman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Minowaman manages to kick Fukusaku off! Fukusaku jumps back into Minowaman's guard.

Minowaman is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Minowaman is looking to stand up but Fukusaku isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Minowaman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fukusaku sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Minowaman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Minowaman.
Ikuhisa Minowaman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fumio Fukusaku.

Minowaman wants to get up but he can't break Fukusaku's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fukusaku gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Minowaman throws a lazy right hand but Fukusaku sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Minowaman looks to land a combination but Fukusaku avoids it well.

and Minowaman counters with a takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Fukusaku parries the strikes from Minowaman easily there. Minowaman is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Fukusaku to escape.

Minowaman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ground and pound from Minowaman seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
