PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Basciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Snow will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vincent Basciano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Snow!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snow closes the distance and clinches up with Basciano, looking for a takedown. Snow pushes Basciano against the cage but Basciano circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Snow drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snow is trying to get an arm triangle but Basciano is defending well.
Basciano really is a fat lump.
Basciano tries to escape but Snow is in control.
Snow works to advance to full mount. Basciano defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Basciano wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Basciano regains half guard.
Basciano is pressing down on Snow's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Basciano is looking for a triangle but Snow pushes his legs off easily.

Snow got a little sloppy there for a moment and Basciano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Snow has managed to get both his arms back between Basciano's legs - danger averted.
Snow seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Basciano has his foot on Snow's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Snow works his way back into a safe position though.
Snow is looking to work some ground and pound but Basciano has wrist control.
Snow stops Basciano from standing up.
Basciano is breathing heavily.
Snow is in close to Basciano's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Snow is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Snow gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Basciano.
Basciano has his takedown stuffed
and Snow counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Basciano is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Vincent Basciano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Snow is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Basciano's half guard.

Basciano tries to kick Snow off in order to stand up. Snow Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Basciano looking for a sweep but Snow has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Snow wants to finish this one by submission but Basciano is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Snow.
Basciano might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Basciano is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Basciano can't escape the position.

I looks like Snow might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Snow prevents Basciano from getting the reversal.
Basciano is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Snow has taken his back!
Snow has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Basciano.
Snow lands strikes to the head.
What can Basciano do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Snow keeps control of the position as Basciano tries to break free.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Basciano grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Basciano looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Snow keeps control of the position as Basciano tries to break free.
Basciano is trying to stand back up.
Snow wants to control but Basciano is keeping busy.
Snow is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That's time! Basciano's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Snow fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Basciano sprawls well initially but Snow persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Snow is looking to take a break and control but Basciano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Snow is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Snow is taking a breather. Basciano says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Snow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Basciano keeps working.
Snow might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Basciano kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Basciano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Snow gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Basciano tries to kick Snow off but Snow keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Snow decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Snow throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Basciano's waist but Basciano gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Snow off to one side.

Basciano jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Snow walks away with a smile on his face. Basciano gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Basciano tries to stand but Snow is controlling from the bottom.
Basciano is fighting to break Snow's control of his arms but Snow is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Vincent Basciano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Basciano throws and elbow that misses. Snow uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Basciano's guard. Nice move by Snow!

Jon Snow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Snow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
