The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gabe avoids a punch combination nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gabe.
Jenkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Gabe, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Jenkins instigates a clinch.

Gabe wants to get back to striking at distance but Jenkins won't allow it.

Gabe goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jenkins is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Gabe will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jenkins stalks Gabe and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gabe's face. Gabe staggers backwards, shaken.
Jenkins pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Jenkins misses with a jab, cross combination.
A thudding body kick lands there by Jenkins!
Gabe misses with a wild body shot.
Jenkins throws a right hand that Gabe ducks under and follows up with a left that Gabe also avoids with ease.
Jenkins tries to bum rush Gabe with a series of wild strikes but Gabe uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gabe throws a sloppy head kick and Jenkins moves out of range easily.
Gabe takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Jenkins gets a clinch.

Gabe misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Still in the clinch, Jenkins scores with a nice short uppercut.
Jenkins keeps control of Gabe as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Gabe fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Gabe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jenkins closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gabe did well to prevent Jenkins getting side control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe Gabe.
