PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vlad Impaler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicles Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicles Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Impaler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jones to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jones won't allow Impaler to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Impaler has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Impaler is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard.

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Impaler's guard now.

Impaler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Impaler manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Impaler in his guard.
