PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rock Hardmeat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and RP Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortiz has chosen Guanita Wan Tanamera by Wyclef Jean as his entrance music. RP Ortiz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hardmeat sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ortiz throws a sloppy head kick and Hardmeat moves out of range easily.
Ortiz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hardmeat's waist but Hardmeat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ortiz off to one side.

Hardmeat rushes Ortiz and presses him up against the cage.
Ortiz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hardmeat gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Rock Hardmeat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of RP Ortiz.
Ortiz misses with the head strike.
Ortiz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hardmeat walks away with a smile on his face. Ortiz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Ortiz has Hardmeat pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hardmeat manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Hardmeat is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Hardmeat tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Ortiz fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Ortiz is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Hardmeat tries to land knees in the clinch but Ortiz avoids the damage to the body.

Hardmeat's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Hardmeat content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Ortiz tries to pull guard but Hardmeat holds him up against the cage and eventually Ortiz drops back down to his feet.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Hardmeat obliges.
Ortiz is working for takedown but Hardmeat is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ortiz goes for a takedown attempt but Hardmeat pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ortiz looks gassed!
Ortiz shoots in for a takedown but Hardmeat shows good takedown defense.

Hardmeat shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hardmeat was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ortiz is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Hardmeat has taken his back.
Hardmeat really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Ortiz.
Hardmeat will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ortiz is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

I would not like to be Ortiz right now.

Hardmeat has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Ortiz! Can he survive? No! He's out! Hardmeat gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
