Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuji Hioki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jesper Andersson!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersson shoots in and drives through. Hioki sprawls well.
Hioki looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Andersson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hioki circles away.
Hioki avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Andersson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hioki has his takedown stuffed

and Andersson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hioki keeping moving, preventing Andersson from controlling successfully.
Hioki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Andersson on the ground.

Andersson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nice body kick there by Andersson.
Hioki keeps the fight on the outside.

Andersson fails with the takedown

and Hioki counters with a single leg into guard. Andersson didn't expect that.
Yuji Hioki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesper Andersson.

Andersson wants to control the pace but Hioki is squirming around nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jesper Andersson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Andersson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Andersson duly obliges.

Hioki gets a takedown into half guard.
Hioki wants to pass to mount but Andersson is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jesper Andersson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Andersson wants to clinch up but Hioki keeps it at a distance.
Andersson shoots and misses
and Hioki counters with a nice body shot.

Andersson forces Hioki back against the cage and clinches.

Andersson successfully pulls guard.
Hioki is fighting to break Andersson's control of his arms but Andersson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Andersson wants to stand up but Hioki is controlling him.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Andersson is on top in guard.
Andersson wants to pass the guard but Hioki is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Andersson wants to stand but Hioki is controlling his posture from full guard.

Hioki tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hioki on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hioki tries to get out of the position.

Andersson is pushing down on Hioki's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hioki is fighting to maintain full guard but Andersson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Andersson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Andersson tries to control but Hioki wriggling away.
Hioki is looking to get to half guard.
Hioki reaches up to try and control the position but Andersson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Hioki rolls and tries to escape and now Andersson has his back!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hioki prevents Andersson from getting a body triangle.
Andersson wants to control the position but Hioki frees himself and scrambles - Andersson manages to regain control in side control.
Hioki regains half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Andersson is trying to control the action in half guard but Hioki is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Andersson wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesper Andersson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Andersson looks to clinch

and Hioki counters with a shoot takedown. Andersson fights it but they end up in guard.
Yuji Hioki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hioki throwing strikes but missing.
Hioki wants to control from the top but Andersson keeps moving.
Andersson scores with a short punch from the bottom.
Andersson is trying to control the position but Hioki postures up.
Andersson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hioki is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Andersson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Hioki pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Andersson is keeping the position for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hioki sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Yuji Hioki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Andersson tries for a takedown but Hioki circles away easily

so Hioki counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hioki postures up.
Hioki has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hioki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Andersson working a defensive guard but Hioki manages to pass into side control anyway.
Andersson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Hioki.
Hioki lands a decent elbow from side control.
Hioki tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Andersson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hioki off and has taken his back!

Andersson is looking for the choke from the back position but Hioki is controlling his hands well.
Will Andersson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Hioki tries to escape but Andersson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Andersson wants to control but Hioki manages to buck him off and is now in Andersson's guard! Nice work there by Hioki!

Hioki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Yuji Hioki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jesper Andersson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
