The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Portokalov throws out a powerful jab.
Garcia shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Portokalov sprawls well. Portokalov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Garcia gets slowly back to his feet.
Portokalov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Garcia looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Portokalov throws a series of punches but Garcia moves out of range.
Portokalov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Garcia moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Garcia shoots in for a takedown but Portokalov shows good takedown defense.
Portokalov sizes up Garcia with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Garcia throws a series of punches but Portokalov avoids them all with ease.
Portokalov scores with a one two! Garcia had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Garcia takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Portokalov connects with a body shot.
Portokalov misses with a double jab.
Good standup being displayed there by Portokalov as he connects with a hook.
Portokalov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Garcia is breathing heavily.
Portokalov throws a series of punches but Garcia moves out of range.
Garcia could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Portokalov scores with a jab to the head.
Portokalov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Garcia counters by moving into the clinch.
Garcia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Portokalov smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Garcia. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Portokalov drops Garcia with a beautiful combination! Garcia stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Portokalov is looking for the KO!

Portokalov walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Garcia drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Portokalov swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Garcia's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
