Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Carlos jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kolt Spenser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos jr comes to the cage accompanied by Jarrid Mendelson - The Ultimate Fighter. Kolt Spenser told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlos jr decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Carlos jr trying to pass the guard but Spenser defending well.
Carlos jr not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Spenser wants to control but Carlos jr is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spenser is refusing to be controlled, as Carlos jr sits in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carlos jr shoots for a double leg takedown but Spenser sprawls well. He's pushed Carlos jr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Spenser shoots and misses
and Carlos jr counters with a one-two to the body.
Carlos jr throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

and Carlos jr counters with a head kick. That will keep Spenser thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Carlos jr counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Spenser's guard now.
Jose Carlos jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kolt Spenser.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carlos jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Carlos jr is refusing to be controlled, as Spenser sits in half guard.
Carlos jr wants to get back to his feet.

Carlos jr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Spenser tries to pass the half guard into mount. Carlos jr knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Spenser should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Spenser seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Spenser pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carlos jr is keeping the position for now.
Carlos jr wants to stand and escape but Spenser is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Spenser trying to control but Carlos jr is working from the bottom.
Spenser prevents Carlos jr from getting back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Spenser counters with a shoot takedown. Carlos jr fights it but they end up in guard.

Kolt Spenser showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spenser has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carlos jr is working away from the top position though.
Spenser is not content to let Carlos jr control the position.
Carlos jr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Spenser defends it well.

Carlos jr perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Spenser regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Carlos jr.
Carlos jr looking to sit in guard and control but Spenser gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Spenser not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carlos jr wants to stand up but Spenser is controlling him.

Spenser controls from within his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
And that's the end of the fight!
Jose Carlos jr showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Carlos jr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
