Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Bones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pettersson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pettersson shoots in for a double leg but Bones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

It looks like Niclas Pettersson has been cut.

Bones shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pettersson is trying to defend but Bones finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Bones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pettersson.
Pettersson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bones's waist but Bones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pettersson off to one side.

Bones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pettersson was covering up waiting for the punch and Bones finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettersson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bones!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pettersson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bones can do anything to dispel that myth.
