PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Moo Shoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Rat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Moo Shoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Rat!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rat.
Rat keeps the fight on the outside.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shoo wants to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shoo is looking to clinch but Rat is avoiding it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shoo tries to clinch but Rat is having none of it.
Rat avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shoo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rat shoots in looking for a takedown. Shoo tries to sprawl out of it but Rat keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shoo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shoo tries to clinch but Rat moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shoo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moo Shoo dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Shoo moves in looking to clinch but Rat pushes him off.
Shoo wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shoo doesn't manage to clinch there - Rat circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shoo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rat darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rat throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Shoo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rat thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shoo's head.
Rat is keen to just control but Shoo is a slippery customer.
Rat has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Shoo has hold of Rat's hands but Rat slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Rat not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Rat is looking to pass Shoo's guard but actually Shoo recovers to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rat cracks Shoo with a solid left hand.
Rat is looking to work some ground and pound but Shoo has wrist control.
Shoo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rat on the ground.
Rat throwing strikes but missing.
Rat throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rat throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shoo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rat looking to sit in guard and control but Shoo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Rat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Rat shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shoo sprawls well. Shoo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rat gets slowly back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rat changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shoo tries to avoid it but Rat manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shoo to the ground. Shoo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rat gets the takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rat cracks Shoo with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Shoo defending against the ground and pound.
Rat sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shoo is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Shoo parries the strikes from Rat easily there. Rat is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Shoo to escape.
Shoo defending against the ground and pound.
Rat throws an elbow but Shoo slips to the side and avoids it well.
Rat misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Rat misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Shoo is not content to let Rat control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rat shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shoo as he avoids it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim Rat comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rat has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
