Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Powers there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tabera just misses with a punch to the body.
Tabera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Powers throws a looping overhand right but Tabera ducks down to avoid it.
Tabera fails with an attempt to clinch.
Tabera is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Powers.
Kenny Powers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tabera scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Nice defenses there by Tabera.
Tabera throws a nice looking combination but Powers bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Powers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tabera to the mat! Tabera manages to get full guard.

Powers has gone for a leg lock! Tabera slips out almost immediately though and dives into Powers's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Powers is trying to control the position but Tabera postures up.
Powers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tabera is one step ahead there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Powers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tabera is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Powers is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Tabera got a little sloppy there for a moment and Powers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tabera has managed to get both his arms back between Powers's legs - danger averted.
