Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Geoff Deal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sub Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hero comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Giant Squid - Panthalassa kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Geoff Deal has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Geoff Deal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sub Hero!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hero scores with a takedown into Deal's guard.
Hero trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Deal has Hero pulled in close to control his posture.
Hero pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Deal is keeping the position for now.
Hero trying to control the position from guard on top but Deal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Deal working a defensive guard here.
Hero showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Deal swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hero shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Deal defends it nicely.
Hero fails to land the takedown.
Deal feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hero's calf.
Deal misses with a body shot.
Hero fails with a takedown attempt.
Geoff Deal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sub Hero.
Deal stuffs the takedown attempt from Hero. Hero gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Deal wants to land a leg kick but Hero is out of range.

Hero scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Deal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Deal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hero on the ground.
Hero content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hero missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Deal won't allow Hero to pass to mount.

Deal controlling the position for now.
Hero thows a huge punch but Deal dodges it nicely.
Deal trying to control here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hero dives in and grabs Deal's left leg, looking for a takedown. Deal pushes down on Hero's head and hops out.
Deal stuffs the takedown attempt from Hero. Hero gets slowly back to his feet.

Deal darts in and clinches Hero up against the cage.
Hero drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Deal gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A right hook to the body lands for Deal.
Deal prevents the takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Deal is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hero is defending well for now.
Hero lands a shot to the body.
Deal lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Hero.
Deal lands a nice uppercut.
Deal is pressed up against the cage. Hero has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Deal down to the mat. Deal avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Deal tries to land a leg kick but Hero saw it coming and moves away.

Hero darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hero missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Deal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hero trying to control the action but Deal is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sub Hero will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hero shoots in for a takedown but Deal shows good takedown defense.
Hero swings for the body but Deal moves out of range.
Hero uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Deal.

Hero bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hero trying to control the action but Deal is working from the bottom.
Deal wants to control but Hero postures up.
Deal is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hero wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Deal, who protects the arm well.

Hero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Deal keeps working.

Hero is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Deal has escaped the position, nice work there.
Deal struggling a bit here.
Hero scores with a couple of short elbows.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hero looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Deal is avoiding damage well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deal stops Hero from passing to mount.
Deal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hero wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hero wants to control but Deal is keeping him busy.
Deal manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hero controlling the action here.
Hero is pressing down on Deal's thigh, looking to free his foot. Deal is holding on for now.
Hero is keen to just control but Deal is a slippery customer.
Hero thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Deal's head.
Deal blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hero.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hero trying to control from half guard but Deal is working away.
Hero has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hero unloading with bombs!
Deal is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hero throwing strikes but Deal recovers to half guard. A much better position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sub Hero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Deal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hero paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Deal lands a high kick!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hero.
Hero staying calm.
Deal regains half guard there - taking advantage of Hero's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Hero is trying to control the action in half guard but Deal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Hero might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Deal kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Deal avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hero.
Hero seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Deal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hero missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Hero has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Deal is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Deal pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Deal pushes Hero up against the cage in a clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Come on Deal - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Deal misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Hero.
A right hook to the body lands for Deal.
Hero is stalling here.
Deal is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hero is keeping busy.

Deal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hero closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hero prevents Deal from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Hero seems content to control.
Hero wants to pass to mount but Deal is defending the position.
Hero keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hero is keen to just control but Deal is a slippery customer.
Hero thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Deal's head.
Hero seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Hero seems content to control.
Geoff Deal has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sub Hero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Deal has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hero is working away from the top position though.
Deal is looking to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sub Hero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hero winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
