PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and ADAM ROBLES (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foster's entrance music is Despicable. A fine choice. ROBLES has chosen WHO LET THE DOGS OUT as his entrance music. ADAM ROBLES told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, ADAM ROBLES!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ROBLES stuffs the takedown attempt from Foster. Foster gets slowly back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - ROBLES looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

ROBLES shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Foster is looking to improve his position but ROBLES isn't that keen on the idea.

Foster somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Foster keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
ROBLES looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Some wild striking there from Foster.
ROBLES tries to clinch up.
A slapping leg kick lands for ROBLES.
Foster wants to clinch but ROBLES slips to the side

and ROBLES decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Foster's guard.

ROBLES wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foster is trying to control the position from the bottom.
ROBLES trying to control but Foster is working from the bottom.
ROBLES controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
ROBLES wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving.
Foster is trying to hold ROBLES in close to prevent damage but ROBLES has managed to pass into half guard.
Foster is not content to let ROBLES control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Foster throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foster misses with a double jab

and ROBLES counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Foster is breathing heavily.

ROBLES manages to pull guard.
Foster missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
ROBLES is trying to keep Foster in close.
ROBLES thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
ROBLES looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
ROBLES is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

ROBLES escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Foster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Foster trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Foster is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
ROBLES dives in and grabs Foster's left leg, looking for a takedown. Foster pushes down on ROBLES's head and hops out.
Brian Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ADAM ROBLES.
Foster looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Foster falls off balance throwing a combination

so ROBLES counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
ROBLES with a flurry of punches that miss.
Foster keeping moving, preventing ROBLES from controlling successfully.
ROBLES tries to free his leg and advance position but Foster is retaining full guard.
ROBLES stops Foster from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Foster throws a series of punches but ROBLES avoids them all with ease.
Foster keeps the fight on the outside.
Foster on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
ROBLES keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
ROBLES doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Foster counters with a nice leg kick.
Foster doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

ROBLES looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

ROBLES stands up and we're back to a striking position.
ROBLES moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

ROBLES is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells ROBLES's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

ROBLES gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Foster swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Foster throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so ROBLES counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
ROBLES won't allow Foster to get back to his feet.
ROBLES is stalling in the full guard.

Foster wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
ROBLES is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
ADAM ROBLES has got the better of the ground game so far.
ROBLES pushing down on Foster's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
ROBLES is looking to advance position but Foster won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

ROBLES stands up and beckons Foster to join him on the feet.
Foster takes a kick to the side of the head.
Foster dives in and grabs ROBLES's left leg, looking for a takedown. ROBLES pushes down on Foster's head and hops out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
ROBLES moves out of range as Foster strikes.
ROBLES connects with a high kick.
Foster misses with a combination

and ROBLES counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

ADAM ROBLES showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Foster's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



ROBLES clinches with his opponent.
Foster is trying to drag ROBLES to the mat but ROBLES just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Foster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

ROBLES instigates a clinch.
Come on ROBLES - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Foster is trying to trip ROBLES. He has hold of a leg but ROBLES is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Foster persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

ROBLES had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Foster defends it easily.
ROBLES has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
ROBLES is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

ROBLES pushes Foster off and scrambles back to his feet.
Foster throws a right and a left that ROBLES avoids nicely.

Foster gets caught flat footed, as ROBLES shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Foster is looking to stand up but ROBLES isn't so interested in that idea.
ROBLES not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Foster is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well ROBLES has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
