Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, denis opal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Bert Ernie!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Ernie. No joy for opal on that attempt.

Ernie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in opal's half guard.

Ernie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
opal keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Ernie slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from opal.

opal kicks off Ernie and gets to his feet.

opal is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
opal is pushing Ernie up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Ernie gets a trip takedown into half guard.

opal is defending against the submission attempts here by Ernie.
Ernie frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Ernie unloads with some shots from mount but opal bucks and avoids them well.
opal is in all sorts of trouble here.
opal takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Ernie prevents opal from improving his position.

Ernie is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ernie with the ground and pound but opal uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Ernie closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ernie lands in his opponent's guard.

Ernie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! opal is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ernie, into his guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ernie can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ernie is looking for a sweep.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ernie regains half guard.
Ernie tries to roll over but opal keeps him under control.
Ernie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
opal stalling.
Ernie is trying to control but can't.
Ernie manages to get to full guard.

Ernie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! opal escapes and throws Ernie's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bert Ernie dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ernie clinches but opal breaks the clinch
and opal counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Ernie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

opal is pressing down on Ernie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
opal is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ernie postures up in opal's guard and throws a big left but opal blocks it.

Ernie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but opal manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ernie has opal in his guard.

Ernie has his foot on opal's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. opal works his way back into a safe position though.

Ernie is looking for a triangle here but opal uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

opal advances to mount.
opal lands a big shot there that rocks Ernie but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
opal scoring with strikes but Ernie is staying in there.
opal connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
opal with the ground and pound from mount.
opal can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ernie is looking to escape.
opal is really struggling to control Ernie but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Ernie sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Ernie wants to get back to full guard.
opal trying to control the pace.
opal wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ernie keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that denis opal will probably get the nod.
That's time! opal's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


opal throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ernie shoots in looking for a takedown. opal tries to sprawl out of it but Ernie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. opal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
opal looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
opal has his takedown stuffed

and Ernie counters with a takedown into side control.
opal prevents Ernie from moving into mount.
Ernie lands some shots froms side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
opal trying his best to control but Ernie has mounted him.
Bert Ernie has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ernie misses with a head shot.

Ernie is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, opal has managed to escape the submission attempt.
opal is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ernie looking for a guillotine from mount but opal is having none of it.

Ernie is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But opal has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from opal!
opal slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ernie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ernie throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Ernie avoids the attempt from opal to control.
Ernie is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Ernie is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, opal has managed to escape the submission attempt.
opal tries to reverse the position but Ernie maintains control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
opal tries to hold on but Ernie pushes him away.
Ernie throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
opal is in all sorts of trouble here.
Ernie avoids the attempt from opal to control.

Ernie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, opal has worked his arm free - good work by opal!

Ernie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. opal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
opal manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ernie's best efforts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
opal is looking for a sweep. Ernie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ernie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so opal is just riding it out for now. Ernie eventually gives up the hold.

Ernie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and opal defends it well.
opal is trying to stand back up but Ernie is controlling him

And that's the end of the fight!
Bert Ernie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ernie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
