The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lippencot throws a body punch but Papillion moves out of range.

Lippencot throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Papillion shoots in and drives through. Lippencot sprawls well.
Lippencot lands with an overhand left.
Lippencot fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Papillion manages to avoid it.

and Papillion counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lippencot's guard now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Papillion fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lippencot looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Lippencot lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Nice straight punches there by Papillion. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Papillion.

It looks like Hans Lippencot has been cut.

and Papillion counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The fighters circling - Lippencot throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Papillion shoots in looking for a takedown. Lippencot tries to sprawl out of it but Papillion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lippencot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Papillion looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lippencot stuffs the takedown attempt from Papillion. Papillion gets slowly back to his feet.
Lippencot lands a nice shot to the body.
Papillion uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lippencot.
Lippencot throws a hook but Papillion avoids it easily.
Lippencot lands a jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lippencot doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Papillion throws a sloppy head kick and Lippencot moves out of range easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Mendez Papillion will probably get the nod.
