The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - DeSimone sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith throws a series of punches but DeSimone moves out of range.

DeSimone uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.
Smith is looking to clinch but DeSimone is avoiding it.
DeSimone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but DeSimone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Smith is refusing to be controlled, as DeSimone sits in half guard.
DeSimone wants to work for an arm triangle but Smith is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
DeSimone is trying for a kimura here. Smith looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! DeSimone wins by kimura!
