Santana comes into the arena with manly euro techno blaring out of the sound system. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wells cracks Santana with an open hand slap.
Santana shoots for a takedown but Wells saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Santana doesn't manage to clinch there - Wells circles away.

Wells scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

and Santana counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Santana is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Wells is looking to control Santana's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wells avoid being mounted?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wells wants to get back to full guard but Santana has mounted him!

Wells is desperately trying to improve his position but Santana has a good base and remains in mount.
Wells tries to lock up and control but Santana gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlos Santana will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wells throws out a loose jab but Santana uses good head movement to avoid it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Santana.

Wells connects with a nice looking jab.
Santana takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Wells gets caught flat footed, as Santana shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Santana wants to pass the guard but Wells is keeping the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wells holds on and takes a little breather.
Wells keeping moving, preventing Santana from controlling successfully.

Wells is pulling down on Santana's head to control his posture.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wells is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Santana looking to sit in guard and control but Wells gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wells controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Santana is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wells defends well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Santana looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wells is one step ahead there.
Wells is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wells is pushing down on Santana's leg trying to pass to half guard. Santana is fighting to maintain full guard but Wells has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jameson Wells showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Santana changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wells tries to avoid it but Santana manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wells to the ground. Wells escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Santana uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wells.
Wells looks to land a right hand but Santana moved out of range.
A punch lands to the side of Santana 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wells lands a jab.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Santana!
Wells swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Santana counters with a takedown into side control.
Wells prevents Santana from moving into mount.

Wells wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Santana has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Wells's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Wells is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Santana!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Carlos Santana!
