PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Loblaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tsatsu Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Loblaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tsatsu Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loblaw misses with a hook.
Loblaw misses with a wild body shot.
Loblaw will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Gomi feints and as Loblaw raises his hands in defense, Gomi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gomi slips nicely into half guard.
Loblaw has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gomi is working away from the top position though.
Gomi wants to pass to mount but Loblaw is defending the position.

Gomi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Loblaw doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gomi.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomi trying to control the action but Loblaw is working from the bottom.
Gomi frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Gomi is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Loblaw has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Loblaw!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Loblaw trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Loblaw gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bob Loblaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Loblaw throws a leg kick but Gomi sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Loblaw looks to score with a jab to the body but Gomi is just out of range.
Gomi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Loblaw.
Loblaw throws a shot from downtown. Gomi moves away and avoids it.
Loblaw throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Loblaw throws a series of punches but Gomi moves out of range.
Loblaw throws out a leg kick but Gomi moves out of range and Loblaw only half commits.
Loblaw lands a nice shot that snaps Gomi's head back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Loblaw gets caught flat footed, as Gomi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Loblaw will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Loblaw keeping moving, preventing Gomi from controlling successfully.
Loblaw tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Gomi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Loblaw looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Loblaw looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Loblaw!
Gomi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Loblaw throwing shots but Gomi is blocking nicely.
Loblaw throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gomi gets full guard.
Gomi keeping full guard, as Loblaw tries to pass.
Gomi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gomi wants to work for an arm triangle but Loblaw is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tsatsu Gomi will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Loblaw misses with a kick to the body.

Gomi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Loblaw tries to hold on but Gomi pushes him away.

Gomi throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Loblaw has his hands clasped together but Gomi breaks the hold and Loblaw is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gomi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tsatsu Gomi!
