Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalyan Kumar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ernesto Rutten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalyan Kumar!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kumar throws a half hearted mid kick.
Rutten fails to land the takedown.
Rutten throws a head kick that misses.

Kumar scores a takedown into full mount!
Kumar controlling the position easily from mount.
Rutten is trying desperately to improve position.
Kumar misses with a head shot.
Rutten really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Kumar lands a heavy elbow.
Kumar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kumar wants to finish this one by submission but Rutten is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kumar.

Kumar prevents Rutten from getting the reversal.
Rutten is working hard here to advance position.
Rutten tries to hold on but Kumar pushes him away.
Rutten might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kumar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rutten avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kumar.
You get the feeling that Rutten really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Kumar throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rutten because Kumar loaded up on that one.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rutten holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kumar tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Rutten is breathing heavily.
Kumar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rutten works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rutten is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kumar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rutten, who protects the arm well.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Rutten is looking to regain half guard here but Kumar keeps moving and retains side control.
Kumar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rutten keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rutten is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Rutten is pressing down on Kumar's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kumar sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rutten's guard.
Rutten is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kumar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rutten tries to kick Kumar off in order to stand up. Kumar Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Rutten looking for a sweep but Kumar has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Rutten is squirming around, avoiding Kumar's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kalyan Kumar dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kumar slips a straight right by Rutten.
Kumar swats away the attempt to clinch by Rutten.

Rutten clinches.

Rutten breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kumar takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Kumar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kumar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rutten counters with a two punch combo.


Kumar is rocked!
Rutten misses with a takedown attempt - Kumar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rutten swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Rutten counters with a flying knee that sends his opponent to the canvas! Rutten looking to finish!
Kumar is still in real trouble! Can Rutten finish him?
Rutten wants to stand and escape but instead Kumar has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rutten is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kumar trying to control the position from guard on top but Rutten is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kumar seems to have recovered his senses.

Rutten is working an open guard so Kumar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kumar rushes Rutten and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rutten tries for a takedown. No joy.

Kumar is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rutten can't fight it off and eventually Kumar manages to take the fight to the floor. Rutten looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rutten is looking to stand up but Kumar isn't so interested in that idea.

Rutten wants to improve his position but instead Kumar has moved into half guard.
Kumar prevents Rutten from standing back up.
Rutten is trying to get back to full guard.

Kumar trying to control the pace.
Kumar uses his free foot to push down on Rutten's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rutten.
Rutten's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Rutten is desperately trying to improve his position but Kumar has a good base and remains in mount.
Kumar sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Kumar throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Rutten is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kumar content just to control the position here.

Kumar is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Kumar showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rutten.
Rutten lands a head kick!
Rutten throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rutten throws a leg kick but Kumar sees it coming and moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rutten looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kumar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rutten as he avoids it easily.
Ernesto Rutten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kalyan Kumar.

Rutten closes the distance but Kumar moves to the side
enabling Kumar to counter with a crisp jab.

Kumar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rutten is fending him off so far but Kumar persists. Nope, Rutten circles away and we're back to standing.
Rutten throws a quick inside leg kick.
Rutten Rushes Kumar and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Kumar is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Rutten Piles on the pressure and Kumar crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ernesto Rutten!
