PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Logan Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sen Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nguyen is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "House of the Rising Sun" by the Animals. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sen Nguyen!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen looks to land a combination. Walker sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Nguyen misses with a takedown attempt - Walker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Walker misses with a few strikes there.
Nguyen takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Jab, jab by Walker - just one landing.
Nguyen on the wrong end of a nice hook.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nguyen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Walker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nguyen circles away quickly and effectively.
Logan Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Nguyen or perhaps it was just good defense by Walker which made him look bad.
Logan Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sen Nguyen.

Nguyen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walker's guard.

Nguyen drops back looking for a leg! Walker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Walker manages to kick Nguyen off! Nguyen jumps back into Walker's guard.

Nguyen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nguyen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Walker throws an elbow but Nguyen slips to the side and avoids it well.

Walker swings around for an armbar but Nguyen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Walker's guard.
Walker is breathing heavily.

Walker is striking off his back. Nguyen thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Walker makes his way to full guard, as Nguyen worked for a kimura.
Walker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nguyen works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Nguyen wants to work for an arm triangle but Walker is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Nguyen is trying to control. Walker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

A close round but Sen Nguyen will probably get the nod.

You can see the frustration on Walker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Walker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nguyen on the ground.

Nguyen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walker is looking for a sweep. Nguyen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nguyen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Walker wants to get back to full guard but Nguyen has mounted him!

Sen Nguyen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nguyen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Walker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Nguyen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Walker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nguyen's guard! Nice work there by Walker!
