The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lambert fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lambert looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lambert works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Smith must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lambert is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lambert shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.

Lambert closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Lambert getting side control.

Lambert shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Lambert keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Lambert thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lambert has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Smith has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Lambert taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Smith doesn't care though - he's delighted!
