PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Lacey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Meeoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lacey might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Motley Crue - Wild Side. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Lacey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Meeoff!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lacey shoots in looking for a takedown. Meeoff tries to sprawl out of it but Lacey keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Meeoff manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Meeoff gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Meeoff pushes Lacey back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Lacey gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Meeoff lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lacey circles away quickly and effectively.

Lacey gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Lacey dives in and grabs Meeoff's left leg, looking for a takedown. Meeoff pushes down on Lacey's head and hops out.

Meeoff throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Meeoff moves in looking to clinch but Lacey pushes him off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Meeoff throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Lacey is breathing heavily.

Meeoff darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lacey slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Lacey will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Lacey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Meeoff gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Meeoff stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lacey takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Meeoff throws a sloppy head kick and Lacey moves out of range easily.

Lacey shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Meeoff pinned against the cage. Meeoff gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A head kick from Meeoff lands but Lacey takes it in his stride.
Lacey fails with the takedown

and Meeoff counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lacey won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Meeoff thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Meeoff decides to stand back up. Meeoff steps back and let's Lacey get back to his feet.
Meeoff defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lacey.
Lacey throws a head kick but Meeoff moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Meeoff.
Lacey keeps the fight on the outside.
Meeoff is looking to clinch.

Lacey has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lacey shoots in for a takedown but Meeoff shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mike Lacey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lacey bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Lacey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Meeoff manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Lacey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meeoff swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lacey is pushing down on Meeoff's leg trying to pass to half guard. Meeoff is fighting to maintain full guard but Lacey has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lacey shoots for a double leg takedown but Meeoff sprawls well. He's pushed Lacey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lacey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lacey lands in his opponent's guard.

Lacey pushes Meeoff off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lacey.
Lacey throws the left hand but Meeoff avoids the punch easily.
Meeoff throws a right hand that Lacey ducks under and follows up with a left that Lacey also avoids with ease.

Meeoff feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mike Lacey will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Meeoff will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Meeoff tries to bum rush Lacey with a series of wild strikes but Lacey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Meeoff takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Lacey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Meeoff tries to avoid it but Lacey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Meeoff to the ground. Meeoff escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
