Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Starks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tony Starks!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Starks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mir but Mir pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Starks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mir defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Starks.

Mir closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Mir has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mir wants to work for an arm triangle but Starks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mir is looking for a kimura but Starks is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mir to get the leverage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mir thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Starks's head.
Mir not doing much here.
Mir throwing shots but Starks is blocking nicely.
Mir with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Starks keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mir looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mir trying to control the action but Starks is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mir works his foot free and advances to mount.
Mir controlling from the full mount.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Frank Mir just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Starks doesn't manage to clinch there - Mir circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Starks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Starks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mir, pushing him back against the cage.
Mir tries to break the clinch but Starks is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Starks stalling in the clinch.

Starks manages to break the clinch.
Mir swats away the attempt to clinch by Starks.
Mir shoots in looking for a takedown. Starks tries to sprawl out of it but Mir keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Starks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Starks was covering up waiting for the punch and Mir finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Starks preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Starks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Mir counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mir.
Starks pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Starks tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Starks gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mir.
Mir goes for a takedown attempt but Starks pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tony Starks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mir fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Starks tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Starks misses with a takedown

and Mir holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mir drops down looking for an ankle pick but Starks pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Starks tries to clinch up

so Mir counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mir passes Starks's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Starks keeps working.

Mir is trying to work for a kimura but Starks is defending well.
Well, if Mir is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mir throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mir not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mir tries to pass to full mount but Starks defends it.

Mir seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Starks is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Frank Mir!
