Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Van Hook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pol Nikulin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Hook's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Cure's Close To Me. Nikulin has chosen Laid To Rest - Lamb of God as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Van Hook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pol Nikulin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Hook misses with the combination.
No luck for Nikulin with that takedown attempt.
A punch combination from Van Hook misses.
Van Hook misses with a few strikes there.
Van Hook tries to close the distance and clinch but Nikulin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Van Hook doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nikulin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Van Hook's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nikulin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Hook swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nikulin wants to control from the top but Van Hook keeps moving.
Nikulin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Nikulin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Van Hook manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nikulin has Van Hook in his guard.

Nikulin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Van Hook's guard.
Van Hook is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Nikulin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Van Hook is now in Nikulin's guard. A big mistake from Nikulin there, giving up the dominant position!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nikulin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Nikulin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nikulin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Van Hook looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Van Hook looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Van Hook!
Nikulin is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Van Hook off and has taken his back!
Nikulin looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Van Hook is controlling Nikulin 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
Van Hook is standing up over Nikulin. Nikulin looks to escape but Van Hook dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nikulin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Nikulin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Nikulin wants to advance to full mount but Van Hook doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Nikulin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Van Hook's guard.

Nikulin wants to pass to mount but Van Hook is defending the position.
Nikulin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Van Hook is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nikulin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nikulin's back!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Nikulin manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Van Hook steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Nikulin. That one must have hurt.

Nikulin lands with some strikes.
Nikulin looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Van Hook slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Pol Nikulin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Nikulin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nikulin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nikulin decides to stand back up. Nikulin steps back and let's Van Hook get back to his feet.
Nikulin shoots for a takedown but Van Hook saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Van Hook throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Van Hook drops Nikulin with a left right combo! Van Hook follows him down to the ground into side control.
Nikulin is rocked!
Nikulin is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Van Hook is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Nikulin is still in real trouble! Can Van Hook finish him?
Nikulin is trying desperately to improve position.

Van Hook working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Nikulin turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Van Hook off and cradles Nikulin's limp body as Van Hook celebrates with his corner.
