Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Louis Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wand Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wand Silva looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Louis Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wand Silva!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velasquez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Velasquez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.

Velasquez tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.
Velasquez is staying tight to Silva's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velasquez decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silva to his feet.

Silva defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Velasquez.
Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Velasquez.
Velasquez doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Velasquez fails to land the takedown.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Velasquez shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Velasquez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Velasquez jumps guard but Silva stands there with Velasquez around his waist. Velasquez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Silva fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Velasquez.
Velasquez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Velasquez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Silva tries to get to full guard but Velasquez has control of the leg.

Silva tries to kick Velasquez off in order to stand up. Velasquez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Velasquez tries to pull guard but Silva won't allow it.

Velasquez goes for a takedown attempt but Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velasquez shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Silva lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Silva.

Velasquez moves into range and clinches up with Silva.

Silva tries to land knees in the clinch but Velasquez avoids the damage to the body.
Velasquez is looking to break free of the clinch but Silva has double underhooks.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Velasquez tries to score a body lock takedown but Silva shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Velasquez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Velasquez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Silva shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Velasquez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silva's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Velasquez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Velasquez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Silva looks to clinch
and Velasquez counters with a straight right hand.
Silva stuffs the takedown.
Silva tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Velasquez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Velasquez tries to score a body lock takedown but Silva shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Louis Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Velasquez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Silva tries to break the clinch but Velasquez is controlling the position.
Velasquez lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Velasquez can't get the takedown.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Silva throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Velasquez blocks it with crossed arms.

Velasquez wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Velasquez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.
Velasquez wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Velasquez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Silva controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Velasquez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there.
Silva wants to stand and escape but instead Velasquez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Silva wants to get back to his feet but Velasquez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Velasquez passes into half guard.
Silva is looking to escape.
Velasquez passes to side control.
Velasquez takes a little break here. Silva wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Velasquez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wand Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Louis Velasquez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Velasquez cracks Silva with a big right hand but Silva just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Velasquez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
