The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schroeder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cottle paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Schroeder closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cottle circles away.
Schroeder tries for a takedown but Cottle sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Schroeder shoots in but Cottle avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Schroeder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Cottle. No joy for Schroeder on that attempt.
Cottle tries to keep at a distance but Schroeder has taken the fight into the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Schroeder.

Cottle drops back looking for a leg! Schroeder is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schroeder manages to kick Cottle off! Cottle jumps back into Schroeder's guard.

Schroeder is pushing Cottle's head away, looking to escape. Cottle manages to hold on to the position though.
Schroeder is looking to get back to his feet here but Cottle is keeping cool and he's managed to take Schroeder's back.
Schroeder defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Cottle's arms.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schroeder is really stuck here.

Schroeder rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Cottle is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Schroeder is just riding it out for now. Cottle eventually gives up the hold.
