Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Coward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendes comes to the cage accompanied by My Way by Limp Bizkit. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes tries to clinch up but Coward circles away and keeps his distance.
Coward throws a head kick that half lands.
Coward on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Coward tries a low kick but Mendes avoids it.
Mendes throws a hook but Coward blocks it.
Mendes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Coward keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mendes.

Coward moves into the clinch.

Coward pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Coward tries to keep at a distance but Mendes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mendes scores with a nice hook to the head.
Mendes lands a hook that snaps the head of Coward backwards.
Mendes displaying some good clinch control by pressing Coward up against the cage.

Coward escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jab from Coward.
Coward shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mendes as he jumps to the side.
Coward lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Mendes misses with a wild body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendes throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Coward throws out a powerful jab.
Coward takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Coward looks to land a left hand but Mendes moved out of range nicely.
Mendes pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Mendes has closed the distance and engaged Coward in a clinch.

Coward breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mendes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coward circles away quickly and effectively.
Mendes fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mendes scores with a crisp jab that stopped Coward in his tracks.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mendes misses with a looping right.
Mendes tries to clinch but Coward is having none of it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Coward breaks the clinch.
Mendes misses the shot to the body.
Coward keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Mendes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Coward looks gassed!

Mendes in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Coward tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Mendes!
