The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeKuyt throws out a powerful jab.
DeKuyt scores with a jab. Thompson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
DeKuyt lands a jab to the nose.
A slow jab from Thompson misses its intended target.
Good standup being displayed there by DeKuyt as he connects with a hook.
DeKuyt thuds a left hand into Thompson's body.
DeKuyt lands the left hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thompson throws the kick towards the body but DeKuyt avoids it.
Thompson on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Thompson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Thompson is looking to clinch.
DeKuyt swats away the attempt to clinch by Thompson.
DeKuyt connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
DeKuyt works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
DeKuyt is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Thompson had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Some wild striking there from DeKuyt.
Thompson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Thompson tries to clinch up but DeKuyt circles away and keeps his distance.
Thompson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Donk. DeKuyt catches Thompson right on the button with a cross.

DeKuyt avoids a punch combination nicely.
Thompson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
DeKuyt works the jab nicely.
Thompson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Thompson is breathing heavily.
DeKuyt lands a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

DeKuyt lands a big right hand that sends Thompson crashing to the mat! DeKuyt stays standing though and waves Thompson back to his feet!

Thompson is rocked!
DeKuyt throws out a powerful jab.
Oh Thompson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mick Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson walks straight into a right hand from DeKuyt - that's dropped him! DeKuyt jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Thompson from any more punishment! Thompson complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
