PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh McCuistion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gump might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to DJ Khaled -All I do is win. McCuistion has chosen Sunken Hips in Space as his entrance music. Forrest Gump has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Gump!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh McCuistion!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCuistion closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gump wants to get back to full guard.
Gump knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCuistion on the ground.

McCuistion is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McCuistion is looking for a kimura but Gump is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McCuistion to get the leverage.
Gump wants to control but McCuistion is keeping busy.
McCuistion missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Gump trying to control from the bottom.

McCuistion is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gump holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gump fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McCuistion manages to avoid it.
McCuistion fails in his attempt to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A frustrated look appears on Gump's face as he tries to break the clinch.
McCuistion with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

McCuistion lands a takedown into guard.
McCuistion trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Gump manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
McCuistion is trying to control the position from the bottom.

McCuistion working for submissions but it's allowed Gump to get to half guard.
McCuistion is trying to get back to full guard.

McCuistion actively working from the bottom here.
Gump trying to control from half guard but McCuistion is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCuistion slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Gump seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

McCuistion throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

McCuistion looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McCuistion looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McCuistion is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McCuistion looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

McCuistion is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gump is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh McCuistion dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gump with a hook.
Gump thuds a left hand into McCuistion's body.
Gump cracks McCuistion with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


It looks like Josh McCuistion has been cut.
Gump circles away from the clinch attempt.
McCuistion walks straight into a right hand from Gump - that's dropped him! Gump jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save McCuistion from any more punishment! McCuistion complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Forrest Gump!
