PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noynoy Aquino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mork Hemsko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Noynoy Aquino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mork Hemsko!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hemsko's corner calls for a 1-2. Hemsko obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Aquino tries to clinch there but Hemsko circles away.
Hemsko scores with a sloppy right hand. Aquino should have avoided that one.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Hemsko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Aquino might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Aquino takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hemsko scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Aquino to see if he's OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hemsko controls the position from side control.
Hemsko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aquino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hemsko's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hemsko postures up in Aquino's guard and throws a big left but Aquino blocks it.
Hemsko distracts Aquino with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Aquino can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hemsko controls the pace.
Aquino manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hemsko manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hemsko is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Aquino in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Aquino thows a big elbow that misses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hemsko can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hemsko has a closed guard, preventing Aquino from standing up.
Aquino is looking to work some ground and pound but Hemsko has wrist control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Good standup being displayed there by Hemsko as he connects with a hook.
Hemsko swats away the attempt to clinch by Aquino.
Hemsko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Aquino tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hemsko paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Aquino moves in looking to clinch but Hemsko pushes him off.
Hemsko comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Aquino wants to clinch up but Hemsko keeps it at a distance.
Aquino has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hemsko finds it's way round the side to connect with Aquino's head.

Hemsko is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Aquino's half guard.
Hemsko is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hemsko lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hemsko is thwarting Aquino's attempts to control the position.
Hemsko slips a nice elbow through Aquino's hands, connecting with Aquino's forehead.
Aquino has hold of Hemsko's hands but Hemsko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Aquino is looking to escape.
Well, if Hemsko is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hemsko is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Aquino!

Hemsko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Hemsko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hemsko has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Aquino's face.

Mork Hemsko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hemsko misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mork Hemsko just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mork Hemsko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hemsko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
