Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Still (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Still!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trent Masters!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masters throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Still on the side of the head.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Still.
Still swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Masters throws a good cross that connects.
Still cracks Masters with a good jab.
Masters motions for Still to come forward. Masters throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Matt Still seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Masters defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Still.
Still misses with an uppercut. Masters saw that one coming.
Still throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Masters sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Still shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Masters sprawls well. Masters wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Still gets slowly back to his feet.

Still fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Masters avoids it really well and circles away.
Nice straight punches there by Still. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Still.

Still throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Masters fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Still.
Still keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Masters.

Masters loads up on a big right hand but Still slips the punch.
Masters misses with a hook. Still ducked under it nicely.
Still throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Masters lands a jab to the head.
Masters slaps away a takedown attempt from Still, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Masters stuffs the takedown.
Still is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and Masters counters with a leg kick.

Masters throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Still shoots and misses
and Masters counters with a nice body shot.
Masters throws a push kick but Still slaps the foot to one side.
Masters misses with a few strikes there.
Still throws a left and a right that both miss
and Masters counters with a leg kick.
Still with a poor takedown
and Masters counters with a right hand to the body.
Still is breathing heavily.
Still motions for Masters to come forward. Still throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Still staying out of range there.
Still throws the left hand but Masters avoids the punch easily.
Still throws a shot from downtown. Masters moves away and avoids it.
Masters throws a low kick, looking for Still's leg but Still calmly moves out of range.
Masters looks to land a right hand but Still moved out of range.
Still throws a jab but it's blocked by Masters.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Still. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Masters on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Still throws an overhand right that lands on Masters's shoulder, as Masters tries to avoid the shot.
Still throws out a loose jab but Masters uses good head movement to avoid it.
Still fails with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Masters throws and low kick but Still moves out of range easily.

Still shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Masters is trying to defend but Still finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Masters is trying to get back to full guard.
Still throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Masters is looking to improve his position.

Masters throws a front kick aimed at Still's knee but Still avoids it well.

Still is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Masters is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Masters has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Masters wants to take a breather but Still is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Masters is taking a breather. Still says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Still uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Masters.

You can see the frustration on Masters's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Still is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Masters defends it well.

Trent Masters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Masters makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Masters lands a glancing blow to the side of Still's head.

Masters fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Still looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Still is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Masters's half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Masters keeping hold of Still's head, controlling as best he can.
Masters makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Masters.
Matt Still has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Still drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Masters dives on top into guard.

Still has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Masters is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Still.
Masters wants to lay and pray for a moment but Still keeps working.
The referee asks Masters politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Masters prefers to stall for the moment though.

Masters decides to stand up, so the ref orders Still to his feet.
Masters moves into range and connects with a jab.
Masters blocks a jab.
Masters takes one to the chin there.
Still throws a series of punches but Masters avoids them all with ease.
