The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes throws a sloppy head kick and Pyle moves out of range easily.
Mendes walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Mendes will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mendes moves into range and clinches up with Pyle.

Mendes lands a takedown into guard.
Mendes is looking to work some ground and pound but Pyle has wrist control.
Mendes prevents Pyle from getting back to his feet.
Pyle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendes's guard.
Mendes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pyle passes into half guard.
Mendes is trying to stand up here but Pyle is controlling him well.
Pyle not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mendes is holding on to half guard well.
Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pyle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pyle tries to pass to full mount but Mendes defends it.
