PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dre Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Skaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Lose my mind By: DMX. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dre Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Skaar!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skaar keeps Jackson at a distance using the push kick.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Jackson clinches up against the cage.
Skaar gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jackson.

Skaar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson looks for a takedown but Skaar sprawls well.
Skaar throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Skaar gets a takedown into half guard.
Jackson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Skaar has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Dre Jackson has been cut.

Jackson tries to lock up and control but Skaar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Skaar has hold of Jackson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jackson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Skaar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skaar is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Skaar tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Skaar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.

Skaar stands and steps away. Jackson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jackson shoots in for a double leg but Skaar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dre Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Skaar circles away easily
and Skaar counters with a good low kick that Jackson was not able to check.

Skaar feints and as Jackson raises his hands in defense, Skaar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
