PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nakitu Mijashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hirihito Yoshita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshita is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hole in the wall. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nakitu Mijashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hirihito Yoshita!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshita tries for a takedown but Mijashi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Yoshita.

Yoshita closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Yoshita lands in his opponent's guard.
Yoshita wants to pass the guard but Mijashi is keeping the position.
Mijashi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yoshita's guard.
Yoshita wants to sweep but no luck.

Mijashi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Yoshita is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mijashi wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Nakitu Mijashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hirihito Yoshita.

Mijashi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Yoshita shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mijashi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Mijashi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mijashi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Yoshita is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Mijashi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Yoshita seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mijashi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mijashi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Yoshita to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yoshita is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mijashi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Yoshita wants to control from the top but Mijashi keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Yoshita shoots in and bounces Mijashi off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mijashi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Yoshita's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Yoshita's back!
You can see the frustration on Yoshita's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Yoshita manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mijashi's guard. Nice work there by Yoshita.
Yoshita stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mijashi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Yoshita connects with a nice short shot to Mijashi's temple.

Mijashi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yoshita doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mijashi.

I think Yoshita has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
