PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Woo Jin Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Wu Tang - Triumph as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Woo Jin Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rashad Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Jackson finds it's target.
Woo Jin Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jackson fails with the takedown.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jackson lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lee looks a forlorn figure.
Lee wants to hold on but Jackson pushes him away.
Jackson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lee because Jackson loaded up on that one.
Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jackson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Poor strikes thrown by Jackson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Lee is bucking up trying to escape but Jackson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Jackson avoids the attempt from Lee to control.

Jackson thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Jackson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lee because Jackson loaded up on that one.

Jackson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lee is on top in guard.
Jackson is trying to control the position but Lee postures up.
Lee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lee wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Lee is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jackson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Jackson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lee defends well.

Jackson has his hands on Lee's head, controlling the position.
Lee wants to stand but Jackson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Jackson is pulling down on Lee's head to control his posture.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A bone on bone clash there as Lee blocks the leg kick.
Jackson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jackson is nestled in close to Lee, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Nice strikes from Jackson there.
Lee is trying to control but can't.
Lee is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lee is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lee controlling the position for now.
Jackson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Jackson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lee is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jackson is in close to Lee's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lee lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lee's guard.
Jackson throwing strikes but missing.
Jackson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Lee has his takedown stuffed

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.

Jackson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Lee is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control.

Jackson throws an elbow but Lee slips to the side and avoids it well.

Lee is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Lee to see if he's OK.

Lee manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rashad Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Jackson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee is trying to escape the position but Jackson is controlling the position.
Lee is trying to control Jackson's posture but Jackson avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jackson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lee jabs Jackson right on the nose. Jackson blinks but takes it well.
Lee tries for a takedown but Jackson circles away easily
and Jackson counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Woo Jin Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lee is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Lee looking for subs from the bottom but Jackson mounts him!

Rashad Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
