The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes misses the shot to the body.

Gomes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dai manages to avoid it.

Gomes leaves Dai with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Dai drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gomes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dai has Gomes in his guard.

Dai is looking for a triangle but Gomes pushes his legs off easily.

Dai throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gomes escapes and throws Dai's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Gomes tries to score with some ground and pound. Dai controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Dai has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gomes is working away from the top position though.

Gomes seems to be looking for submissions.
Dai manages to get to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dai postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gomes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dai, into his guard.

Dai shoots in looking for a takedown. Gomes tries to sprawl out of it but Dai keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gomes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gomes is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Dai rather than just go for the knockout.

Dai shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dai was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Dai closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Dai has an Americana. Gomes didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Dai is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Dai hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
