The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vanini bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lesnar tries to bench press Vanini off him but Vanini keeps the position. Vanini moves into full mount! Vanini is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lesnar to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lesnar shrugs it off. Lesnar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lesnar tries to get out of the position. Lesnar working to try and regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vanini moves to the back position. Lesnar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vanini on the ground. Lesnar looking very determined here, making life difficult for Vanini.
Vanini patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Well, with Vanini on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Lesnar is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Vanini controlling well, preventing Lesnar from escaping the position.

Vanini is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Lesnar with him. Lesnar is trying to defend but Vanini has an arm under the chin now! Lesnar grimaces and is forced to tap out!
