Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Corbett!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Corbett misses.
Ribeiro wants to clinch up but Corbett keeps it at a distance.
Corbett scores with a jab to the head.
Ribeiro closes the distance and clinches up with Corbett, looking for a takedown. Ribeiro pushes Corbett against the cage but Corbett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Corbett blocks a head kick by Ribeiro.
Ribeiro tries to clinch but Corbett is having none of it.
Corbett throws a looping overhand right but Ribeiro ducks down to avoid it.
Ribeiro moves out of range as Corbett throws a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corbett misses with an uppercut. Ribeiro saw that one coming.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Corbett ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ribeiro moves away.
Corbett throws a leg kick but Ribeiro sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Mario Ribeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ribeiro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nathan Corbett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Corbett lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ribeiro has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ribeiro and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown but Corbett shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ribeiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Corbett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ribeiro can't keep his opponent in guard - Corbett advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Ribeiro is looking for a sweep. Corbett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Corbett wants to stand but Ribeiro has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Corbett is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

It looks like Corbett is going to stand back up.
Corbett is keen to just control but Ribeiro is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Corbett slips nicely into half guard.
Ribeiro is staying active underneath Corbett, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ribeiro is looking for a sweep. Corbett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Corbett takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ribeiro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Corbett pulls his head out easily.

Corbett lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ribeiro's sensitive parts.

Ribeiro tries to clinch up but Corbett circles away and keeps his distance.
Corbett looks to land a left hand but Ribeiro moved out of range nicely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ribeiro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ribeiro is looking to take a break and control but Corbett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Corbett circles away from the clinch attempt
and Corbett counters with a thumping low kick.
A nice combination there by Ribeiro.

Corbett tries to circle away but Ribeiro has him pinned against the cage.
Corbett prevents a takedown attempt there.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mario Ribeiro.
I think Corbett has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
