The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mchugh leaves Tam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mchugh throws a head kick that misses.

Tam knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mchugh on the ground.

Tam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mchugh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tam shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mchugh counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mchugh slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mchugh darts in and clinches Tam up against the cage.

Mchugh fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mchugh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tam circles away quickly and effectively.
Mchugh throws a head kick but Tam moves out of range.

Mchugh shoots in and bounces Tam off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mchugh stands and steps away. Tam gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mchugh has Tam up against the cage in a clinch.

Mchugh's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mchugh is trying to drag Tam to the mat but Tam just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Mchugh counters with a left and a right that stings Tam.
Oh Tam is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Tam. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Tam takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mchugh lands a big head kick that sends Tam to the canvas! Mchugh follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
