Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trevor Woodie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randy Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a right and a left that Woodie avoids nicely.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Woodie.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Woodie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johnson, who protects the arm well.

Woodie decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.
No luck for Woodie with that takedown attempt.
Johnson misses with a double jab.
Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick misses from Johnson.
Woodie throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Woodie will be more careful next time no doubt.

Woodie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Johnson counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Woodie!

Johnson wants to free his trapped foot but Woodie is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Woodie is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.

Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Johnson wants to advance to full mount but Woodie doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Woodie trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Woodie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woodie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses.
Johnson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Woodie doesn't manage to clinch there - Johnson circles away.
Woodie misses with a takedown attempt
and Johnson counters with a one-two to the body.

and Johnson counters with a straight right hand.

Trevor Woodie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Woodie counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Johnson is trying to keep Woodie in close.

Johnson is working an open guard so Woodie takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Woodie looks to clinch
and Johnson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Woodie darts in trying to clinch
and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Woodie will be more careful next time no doubt.

Woodie tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson keeps the fight on the outside.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Woodie scores with the left hand. Johnson knows he should have avoided that one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Woodie.
Johnson fails to land with a series of punches.

Johnson has his foot on Woodie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Woodie works his way back into a safe position though.

Woodie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

and Johnson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Woodie slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Woodie misses the jab.
Johnson misses with a head kick.
Woodie is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Woodie clinches but Johnson breaks the clinch
and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Woodie is defended easily by Johnson.
