PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between dimmu borgir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Gerald Davis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, dimmu borgir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis leaves borgir with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Davis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Davis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but borgir circles away quickly and effectively.
Davis stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Davis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Horrible takedown by borgir or perhaps it was just good defense by Davis which made him look bad.
Davis tries to bum rush borgir with a series of wild strikes but borgir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gerald Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
borgir showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Davis.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from borgir.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for dimmu borgir. That's going to take a lot out of him.

borgir shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Davis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Davis kicks borgir off and gets to his feet.
Davis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fight stays on the outside here - borgir looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Davis misses with a two punch combination.
Davis stalks borgir and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into borgir's face. borgir staggers backwards, shaken.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from borgir.
borgir is breathing heavily.
Davis goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
borgir takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

borgir is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
borgir loses concentration momentarily and Davis pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! borgir crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Davis finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
