Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boston Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Puuha Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Boston Dean!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Puuha Pete!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pete has managed to clinch.
Pete goes for a takedown attempt but Dean pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Puuha Pete seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pete fails to land the takedown.
Pete throws and low kick but Dean moves out of range easily.
Pete wants to clinch.
Pete wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance.
Pete shoots in for a double leg but Dean sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Boston Dean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Puuha Pete.
Pete drops his hands momentarily and Dean takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Pete tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dean swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pete is defended easily by Dean.
Pete moves in looking to clinch but Dean pushes him off.
Pete moves into range and connects with a jab.
Dean scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Pete is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dean's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pete takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dean wants to get back to his feet.
Pete is pressing down on Dean's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dean is holding on for now.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pete throws a wild left hand from mount and Dean manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Pete stalling away here and it's allowed Dean to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pete accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pete is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Pete stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dean swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pete wants to control from the top but Dean keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dean leaves Pete with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No luck for Pete with that takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Pete or perhaps it was just good defense by Dean which made him look bad.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Dean misses with a wild combination.
Pete tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dean sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pete somewhat.
Some wild striking there from Dean.
Dean throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pete's waist but Pete gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dean off to one side.
Pete wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance.
Boston Dean is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dean rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pete moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pete shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dean but Dean pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Good work by Pete as he checks the leg kick.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dean cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Dean cracks Pete with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pete is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dean has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dean!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dean fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dean chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pete can pounce on him.

Pete scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Dean regains half guard, as Pete was trying to land strikes.
Pete thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dean's head.

Pete seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dean does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pete connects with a nice short shot to Dean's temple.

Pete looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dean with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pete lands a nice short elbow.

That's time! Dean's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Dean punishes Pete's body with a nice straight punch.

Pete motions for Dean to come forward. Pete throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Dean dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Dean counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dean lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Dean counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

No joy there for Dean, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Dean is looking to wear down Pete with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Pete tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pete has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pete creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Dean sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pete is on top in guard.
