PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Louis Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Brother Louie. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Velasquez.
Red shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Velasquez as he jumps to the side.
Velasquez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Red.

Red rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Velasquez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Velasquez passes into side control, despite Red's attempt to control the position.

Red tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Velasquez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Red is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Red manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Louis Velasquez.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Velasquez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
