PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalle Anka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anka's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Kalinka. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Anka as he avoids it easily.

Anka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gracie to the mat! Gracie manages to get full guard.
Gracie wants to sweep here but Anka controlling him for the moment.

Anka is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Anka might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Anka wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Anka passes Gracie's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Anka is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kalle Anka just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

It looks like Kalle Anka has been cut.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gracie has control of Anka's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Anka regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Anka is wriggling around trying to escape.
Anka is breathing heavily.
Gracie thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Anka is trying desperately to improve position.
Anka could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gracie working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Anka turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gracie off and cradles Anka's limp body as Gracie celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Shogun Gracie!
