PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adnan Catic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Adnan Catic has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Adnan Catic seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Adnan Catic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nate Walker!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker has a takedown stuffed.
Walker misses with a takedown attempt - Catic sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Walker is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Catic.
Catic looks to land a combination. Walker sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Walker fails to land the takedown.
Adnan Catic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Walker.

Horrible takedown by Catic or perhaps it was just good defense by Walker which made him look bad.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Catic tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Walker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Walker is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Catic knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Walker is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Walker misses with the ground and pound.
Walker has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Catic is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Walker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Catic can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Walker looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Catic has given up his back. Will we see Walker going for some submissions?

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Catic feints and as Walker raises his hands in defense, Catic changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Walker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Catic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Catic kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Walker throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Catic escapes and throws Walker's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Walker pushes Catic away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Catic gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walker tries to clinch there but Catic circles away.
Catic throws a hook to the side of Walker's head but Walker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Walker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Walker has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Walker looking to control and managing it successfully.
Walker wants to control the pace but Catic is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker prevents Catic from getting the reversal.
Catic tries to hold on but Walker pushes him away.

Walker looking for a guillotine from mount but Catic is having none of it.

Catic is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Nate Walker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Catic is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Walker cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Catic is wriggling around trying to escape.

Walker moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Catic has worked his arm free - good work by Catic!

Walker working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Walker remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Nate Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Walker has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Catic is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Walker yanks on the arm and Catic is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Walker.
