PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalle Anka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Pietrovitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anka kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kalinka. Pietrovitch has chosen Punishment - Biohazard as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kalle Anka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Pietrovitch!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Anka.
Pietrovitch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kalle Anka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anka shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pietrovitch but Pietrovitch pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pietrovitch throws a right hand that Anka ducks under and follows up with a left that Anka also avoids with ease.
Pietrovitch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pietrovitch wants it to stay on the feet.

Anka uses his free foot to push down on Pietrovitch's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pietrovitch.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Nikolai Pietrovitch has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Anka moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Pietrovitch has worked his arm free - good work by Pietrovitch!

Anka wants to control but Pietrovitch is keeping him busy.
The strikes coming from Anka are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
You can see the frustration on Pietrovitch's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Anka is trying to trip Pietrovitch. He has hold of a leg but Pietrovitch is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Anka persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anka stays in close to Pietrovitch's body and controls the position.
Pietrovitch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Pietrovitch wants to stand and escape but Anka is having none of it.

Anka is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pietrovitch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pietrovitch has escaped and now he's on top!
Anka manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pietrovitch manages to get himself to full guard.
Anka stands up over Pietrovitch, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Anka changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pietrovitch looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Anka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Anka is pressing down on Pietrovitch's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pietrovitch is holding on for now.

Anka seems to be working for a kimura but Pietrovitch defends the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pietrovitch drops back looking for a leg! Anka is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Anka manages to kick Pietrovitch off! Pietrovitch jumps back into Anka's guard.

Anka has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Pietrovitch doesn't defend quickly enough and Anka has managed to lock this one up! Can Pietrovitch escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Anka on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kalle Anka!
