Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kel Varnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Saver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Varnson's entrance music is Boondocks by Asheru. A fine choice. Kel Varnson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saver pushes Varnson up against the cage in a clinch.
Varnson is trying to break free.

Saver breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Saver shoots in for a takedown but Varnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Some wild striking there from Varnson.
A looping hook to the body misses from Saver. Varnson does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Saver counters by clinching up.
Varnson gets underhooks to prevent Saver's takedown attempt.
Saver fails to pull guard.
Kel Varnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Saver.

Saver breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Saver scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Varnson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Will Saver has been cut.
Varnson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Varnson stuns Saver with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

and Saver counters with a single leg into guard. Varnson didn't expect that.

Varnson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Saver!

Saver defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Varnson.

Varnson throwing strikes here but Saver is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Saver is trying to escape the mount.

Varnson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Saver manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Saver is trying to get back to half guard.

Saver holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Varnson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Saver tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Varnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Varnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Varnson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Saver sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Saver parries the strikes from Varnson easily there. Varnson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Saver to escape.

Saver wants to control but Varnson postures up.
Varnson trying to control the position but Saver is working away.

Varnson has an Americana. Saver didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Varnson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Varnson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
